FUNDS Donor Advised Funds Chino Memorial Fund was started by friends and family of the late Mr. Junzo Chino and Mrs. Hatsuyo Chino. The fund promotes and furthers Japanese-American cultural and technical exchange, particularly in the field of agriculture or furthers and promotes education in the field of agriculture. Marion and Lee Dodson Fund was established by the Dodsons to support community service projects and the arts. Buzz and Bobbie Hegé Memorial Fund was established by Ken and Lynne Calkins in memory of Buzz and Bobbie Hegé who supported young people who worked hard but did not quite have the means to accomplish their worthwhile goals. They would be proud to know that they continue to assist young people who support themselves. Helmut Kiffmann Fund was established for educational purposes, including the Ed Plus teacher grant program, new youth and community development requirements that may arise, and the development of the Coastal Community Foundation. Mohan and Jogin Fund provides resources for the advancement of educational opportunities.
Field of Interest Funds DEMA Community Fund was established in 2008 to support community projects, the arts and educational scholarships. Individuals and businesses can make donations for specific projects and programs for the betterment of Encinitas Dodson Community Betterment Fund was established in 2007 by Marion Dodson to support community service projects and the arts. Grants from the fund will enhance neighboring communities. ECCO (Encinitas Chamber Community Outreach Fund) supports new charitable projects and programs identified by the Encinitas Chamber to benefit residents of Encinitas. Education PLUS! Fund was started in 1990 by retired educators to support educational programs in the public schools. Resources provide mini-grants to teachers in Del Mar, Solana Beach and Encinitas school districts. In 1997, an Education PLUS Endowment Fund. Encinitas Garden Festival Fund was established by the Encinitas Garden Festival for community beautification and education projects that support gardening, landscape, environment and horticultural history of Encinitas. Fund for Mental Health was established by a community resident in 1991. Grants support worthy mental health programs for North County residents Gemma Parks Fund for Ecology and Conservation was established by family and friends of Gemma Parks, a community activist. Grants from the fund support ecology and conservation projects in the North Coast. Andie Kwasny Memorial Fund was established by the family of Andie Kwasny to support suicide prevention and intervention programs for youth through schools or nonprofit organizations. Barbara Schneiderman Memorial Fund for Piano Enrichment was established
by family and friends of Barbara Schneiderman to provide support to piano
students to attend a Suzuki summer camp or Suzuki convention. The fund
also may support the training and professional development of Suzuki piano
teachers.
Designated Funds Friends of Encinitas Library Endowment Fund was established by the Friends in 2007 to provide funding for books and materials for the Encinitas Library Ellen L. Thomas Memorial Fund was established in 1990 by family and friends of Ellen Thomas. The endowment benefits the North Coast Repertory Theater in memory of Ms. Thomas who loved the theater.
Scholarship Funds Bill Berrier Scholarship Fund was established in recognition of Bill Berrier who served as superintendent of the San Dieguito Union High School District from 1971 until his retirement in 2001. Scholarships are awarded to students graduating from a high school in the San Dieguito District who plan to pursue a career in education. Joe W. Chavez Educational Fund was established in 2000 through the estate of Joe W. Chavez. The fund provides scholarships for graduating seniors who are pursing an education in medicine or government Eric Hall Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarships to graduating seniors who are attending college related to the areas of public administration, architecture, construction management or public finance. Eric Scott Langdon and Diana Monzeglio Memorial Scholarship Fund for Artists was established by family and friends in November 1991 to provide scholarships for graduating seniors from San Dieguito Academy who will continue study in the arts. Dr. Roy Risner Scholarship Fund was established to provide scholarships for students graduating from Sunset High School. Autumn Strang Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 in memory of Autumn Strang. Scholarships will be awarded for students attending Mira Costa college.
Unrestricted Funds The Future Fund was established by the board and receives annual contributions from many community residents. The board determines distributions annually.
